The perioperative theatre laboratory is located on the second floor, on the right-hand side from the main gate. It was first launched on the month of June 2025. It has a single point of entry and occupies an area of approximately 10 by 15m. Upon entry, one encounters a corridor. On the right side of this corridor are several doors arranged in sequence. The first door leads to the male and female changing rooms, followed by the patient waiting room. Next is the recovery room, also known as the Post‑Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and finally, the door that leads into the sterilization room.
Before a patient is taken into the operating theatre for surgery, they must be properly identified and cleared using a standard theatre checklist to ensure safety and readiness for the procedure. Once inside the theatre, the surgical procedure is carried out by a multidisciplinary team. This team includes the surgeon, assistant surgeon, anaesthetist, theatre technician, scrub nurse, and circulating nurse, each of whom plays a specific and essential role throughout the surgical process.
After the procedure is completed, the patient is transferred to the recovery room to allow for stabilization before being moved to the ward. In the recovery room, the patient is closely and continuously monitored for any changes in condition, and any abnormalities are addressed promptly. Once the patient is stable, they are safely transferred to the ward for further care.
Meanwhile, all instruments used during the procedure, including green towels and other reusable materials, are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized in preparation for subsequent surgical procedures.
